Level Up

Level Up is an exciting new project from Figment Arts.  We are delighted to have received funding from Arts Council England and Chalk Cliff Trust to undertake this work.

Level Up is an artist development project for learning disabled artist Sarah Watson (see Sarah’s profile below).  She is supported by Producer Clare Sheppeard (see Clare’s profile below).  Sarah will be mentored by professional artists working in photography, print-making, digital illustration and painting.

Mentors include photographer Simon Roberts and Tanya Raabe-Webber

From April 2019, Sarah and Clare will establish the Figment Arts Studio, which will meet at the Phoenix Gallery in Brighton on the first Wednesday of the month, from April to September.

Sarah Watson

Multi skilled, self-taught, I think differently. I have been an artist since I was 15. Art helps to maintain my focus and helps with my anxiety. I am chair of trustees of Carousel, a member of Oska Bright Film Festival

I express myself through my art. I use lots of different media and techniques: drawing, painting, animation, photography, pen, inks and digital art.

My work is colourful, expressive and bold. I love experimenting and layering colour, patterns and images. My inspirations and influences include films, Van Gogh and Instagram.

Sarah has been working with Figment Arts since 2017, initially on her Wonderland project, and now working on Level Up.
